The Esc key is very important in PC-Type. Its principal function is
to move the cursor between the Text Area (what you are reading) and
the Command Line. Press Esc a few times to see how the cursor moves.
Help is sensitive to the operation you are performing. With the
cursor in the Text Area, Help consists of a number of screens which
may be toggled with the PgUp or PgDn key. To exit HELP, you also
press the Esc key. Move the cursor to the Text Area if it is on the
Command Line and press F1, PgDn a few times, and then Esc.
Now press Esc again to move the cursor to the Command Line and press
F1 again, followed by Esc. As you can see, the HELP provided is
different. If you are sorting, using the Configuration windows, etc.,
HELP is always an F1 away.
One last thing: with the cursor on the Command Line, press the up
arrow, then the down arrow. (You can get out of the Command Line with
a number of strokes besides Esc, but Esc is the only way in!)
Now press F4 to exit (if you are asked "Are you sure?", press Y).
